The American Revolution
In the events leading up to the Revolutionary war tension grew between the colonies and Britain. When war broke out between the two, geography immediately became a disadvantage for the British army. These disadvantages proved too much for Britain to overcome and they were forced to accept defeat. Distance from England, terrain, and vast size of colonial territories were significant advantages that helped the colonies turn the tables on and successfully win freedom from Britain.
